OxTS provides HORIBA MIRA with an indoor positioning solution for UK’s first automated valet parking test facility.

OxTS has delivered its first indoor positioning solution on the second level of HORIBA MIRA’s new ASSURED CAV Parking facility, a first-of-its-kind, purpose-built multistorey car park for the development and testing of automated valet parking (AVP) and other ADAS systems, such as park assist.
The custom-developed solution meets HORIBA MIRA’s ≤ 5 cm position accuracy requirements and ≤/= 1° heading accuracy, up to speeds of at least 30 kph; ideal for parking scenarios that involve low-speed manoeuvres with small vehicle-to-target distances. The solution also enables a safe and repeatable path following through the use of AB Dynamics driving robots.

OxTS has introduced ultra-wideband (UWB) from technology partner Pozyx to achieve these outcomes as an aiding source for the RT3000 v3. “The result is a solution that assures the necessary safety, accuracy and repeatability to begin validating AVP and ADAS systems with confidence,” explains Ashley Patton, Lead CAV Test Engineer at HORIBA MIRA.
