NI has announced it is showcasing its next generation of EV and ADAS products and solutions designed to help businesses reach new performance levels this week at the Automotive Testing Expo, that will be held in Stuttgart.
NI says it will demonstrate how it is driving performance at leading carmakers and suppliers and then dissect that into categories of performance such as operational performance of a production line and test operations, optimizing the performance of the end products delivered to their customers, and even engineering performance.
Some of the demos are listed below:
EV/BATTERY
Representative Battery Validation test cell: includes a measurement rack with the latest Battery Test System Software, a battery cycler, and a DUT. NIs latest acquisitions, Heinzinger, NHR and Kratzer
Inverter Test System: showcasing a HIL validation of a traction inverter ECU by simulating an EV powertrain, to test the ECU performance over a wide range of parameters and non-reproducible conditions.
ADAS
ADAS/AD Record Vehicle which demonstrates how NI customers are testing and verifying new technology development out in the field, doing long-term data logging and performance testing.
ADAS Replay and HIL
ADAS/AD Camera HIL Test: Using their simulation tool monoDrive or 3rd party simulation from ANSAS, to inject Errors through the FPGA into the camera stream, like dropped frames, pixel corruption or brightness changes.
Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Functional Tester: NI’s partner S.E.A. will be showcasing their turnkey solutions for functional and V2X application-level test. These open-loop and closed-loop test systems can do dynamic control and interactions with other traffic objects and ADAS applications to ensure interoperability with V2X infrastructure and an RF environment.
ADAS
The NI toolchain and systems quickly adapt to and future-proof the validation process. Through the NI ADAS and AD ecosystem, you can collaborate with experts to fully empower your connected ADAS and AD validation workflow, covering data record, data replay, digital twins, software in the loop, HIL, sensor fusion, and other XIL or V&V applications.
ADAS Record Car + Data Ingest
For test engineering groups who are validating ADAS/AD software, the ADAS Record System provides a high-bandwidth and flexible way to capture tightly synchronized real-world data in the vehicle. The data capture triggering and system health monitoring enable users to maximize test vehicle uptime and test data utilization. Together with NI partners Konrad Technologies and Seagate NI will bring to ATE the ADAS/AD Record Vehicle which demonstrates how customers are testing and verifying new technology development out in the field, doing long-term data logging and performance testing.
Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Functional Tester
V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communications will transform the mobility industry to improve the safety and efficiency of vehicles and autonomous systems. For this application, V2X interfaces must conform to communication standards and RF regulations. These standards include 4G/5G cellular connectivity based on the 3GPP physical standard along with protocol, security, and other application standards from SAE, IEEE, and others.
At Automotive Testing Expo, NI Partner S.E.A. will be showcasing their turnkey solutions for functional and V2X application-level test. These open-loop and closed-loop test systems can do dynamic control and interactions with other traffic objects and ADAS applications to ensure interoperability with V2X infrastructure and an RF environment.
EV/BATTERY
Electric Vehicles (EV) promise blue skies and sustainability that’s driving innovation at an unprecedented scale and speed. As automakers invest aggressively to be first and gain market share, engineers must test for uncompromising safety—and evolving performance expectations—with no playbook and no shortcuts. The test they do on EV batteries, inverters, and chargers can be the difference between announcing the best-performing EV ever or a recall. NI provides them with the software-connected systems that make data a priority so they can overcome the challenge
The BTS is designed to help Tier 1 suppliers and automakers adapt to the complexity and scale of EV battery testing through enhanced customization, automation, and data connection across the entire battery test workflow to ensure performance and accelerate time to market. How do you perform at your best when everything about what you do keeps changing? You focus on performance:
Less time wasted in management task to gain efficiency.
Faster data-driven decision about battery performance.
Improved collaboration from design to operation through a single toolchain that benefits design engineering, test, integration, lab managers, and operators.
Inverter Test System
Aggressive schedules, rapidly changing test requirements, and third-party equipment/model integration are just some of the challenges EV powertrain engineering teams are facing in the race to design traction inverters and motors with higher efficiency and faster torque response. These challenges have created a demand for flexible test systems that can adapt to changing requirements and enable engineers to test earlier in the design cycle, thus reducing the cost of expensive road tests.
At Automotive Testing NI will be showing the Inverter Test System which is doing a HIL validation of a traction inverter ECU by simulating an EV powertrain, to test the ECU performance over a wide range of parameters and non-reproducible conditions.
